It all started few months back in Mar-2021 when my mother had suddenly got severe pain in right leg. Despite treatment from our family doctor, pain was persistent. Then we consulted Dr Sameep Sohni of Kaushalya Hospital. [read more]He adviced urgent mri scan of my mother's spine when her pain started worsening despite good painkiller medicines and she was not able to sit for more than 5 minutes. He also advised to consult Dr Nikhil Joshi. Dr Nikhil Joshi thoroughly examined my mother and said that there was vertebral slip along with nerve compression with weak bone ....may be due to radiation side effects taken in the past. He then advised to undergo spine surgery to resolve this problem permanently. Initially he prescribed medicines and my mother started feeling partially better. Due to multiple reasons such as urinary Infection, my mother was detected positive for Covid-19 (though asymptomatic)surgery got delayed. After getting fully recovered from Covid-19 we finally got admitted into Kaushalya Hospital. During preoperative check up, Dr Nikhil Joshi found that my mother's right leg pulse was not felt. CT Angiography revealed thrombosis in Right sided blood vessel near hip joint. He immediately took opinion of vascular surgeon, Dr Ritesh Gaikwad who removed blood clot by doing surgery. Post operatively, Dr Nikhil Joshi advised us to wait for minimum 2 months before spine surgery in view of major vascular surgery. By this time my mother's pain was really out of control. She was bedridden for more than 4- months and barely could walk. Dr. Nikhil operated upon her recently after fitness and we found that her leg pain had vanished postoperatively. she is able to sit for more than an 1 hr now. At present, she is in recovery period. Many Thanks to Dr Nikhil Joshi and Kaushalya Hospital team of Doctors, nurses, support staff for helping us out of this situation.
